R&D Partnerships

BEL has entered into several partnerships with various agencies in the Arti­ficial Intelligence domain and the major ones include MoUs with Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy and Academia.

  • To initiate development activities in the Digital Agriculture domain, MoUs have been signed with GKVK (Gandhi Krishi Vigyana Kendra), Bengaluru and ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru.
  • For AI related development activities, MoUs have been signed with several academic institutions like IISc Bangalore, IIT-Delhi, IIIT-Bangalore and IIIT-Hyderabad to name a few.
  • An incubation centre named Indian Navy Incubation Centre for AI (INICAI) has been established in BEL Bangalore jointly with Indian Navy to develop relevant AI use cases for Indian Navy.
  • To focus on enhancing collaboration with premier Educational Institutions, BEL has set up R&D Innovation cells at Kochi (for Sonars and ASW) and IIT Madras Research Park (for Wireless Communication, Quantum Key Distribution and Signal Processing etc.)
  • BEL has opened a new Software Development Centre (SDC) at Visakhapatnam in February 2023 to offer Software as a Service for various applications in Defence and Non-Defence domains.
