Naval Tactical Data Link System (L2M3) provides a Data Exchange network used by Ships, Submarines and Shore Establishments to exchange their tactical picture in near-real time. The exchange can be mutual or to Maritime Operations Centers.
Data Link System((L2M3) also supports the exchange of text messages, imagery data using media like Tactical Radio, MSS, SATCOM. etc.
System is designed to have seamless integration with CMS interface & capable of exchanging voice and video along with the tactical and messaging information.

LINK II MODI II Consists of Following Subsystems
Main Processor Unit (MPU) :The main processor unit acts as the server in Server-Client architecture and caters to all server functionalities as required by the application software sub-system. System level redundancy is built at this layer with two servers in hot standby. The main Application Layer will reside on this system.
Radio Modem Unit: It comprises of four channels Radio Modem that is interfaced with on-board legacy communication systems. The modem channels are connected to the HF and V/UHF communication sets
Messaging Consoles: The Messaging consoles are on the LAN and will be connected to the MPU by Console Gigabit Ethernet/FO via the central Ethernet switch. The Messaging console is used for generating free text messages or situation reports etc., by the operators and also viewing the received messages.
Tactical Consoles: The Tactical Consoles are on the LAN and will be connected to the MPU by Console Gigabit Ethernet/FO via the central Ethernet switch. The Tactical Console is used for viewing the tactical information.
Mobile Messaging Console: The portable Wi-Fi enabled Mobile Messaging Console are also part of the LAN and are connected by 802 point11g based APs. The Messaging console is used for generating free text messages/situation reports etc., by the operators and also viewing the received messages.
