The Composite Communication System, CCS Mk II is an integrated communication system designed to provide external and internal communication facilities onboard Naval ships. It extends external communication facilities to various remote users by integrating all the radio equipment and remote control units as a composite system. It provides quick and reliable communication over MF, HF, VHF and UHF bands onboard modern warships. The system is highly flexible and can be configured for all classes of ships and submarines. CCS supports Ship to Ship, Ship to Shore and Ship to Air radio communication onboard naval ships.

Distributed switching hardware employing local area networking principles
The multi-function control units at remote positions are called Intelligent Terminal Units (ITU)
The nodal hardware units are called Concentrators, which are flexible and field configurable so that any radio equipment or Intelligent Terminal Units can be connected to these
Audio signals and status/control lines originated from a group of radio equipment or ITUs are concentrated at a Concentrator
To each Concentrator a maximum of 16 equipment (combination of transmitters, receivers and ITUs) / 8 ITUs can be connected
Allocation of communication circuits to remote users is carried out by a supervisor from a central CCT(Communication Control Terminal)
