AGMS for MBT ARJUN MK I A

AGMS for MBT ARJUN MK I A

Product category :Tank & Armoured Fighting Vehicle Electronic Systems

Advanced Gunner’s Main Sight (AGMS) is one of the main systems of Fire Control System (FCS) of Arjun MBT Mk IA. AGMS has two axis stabilized with day and night firing capability in both static and dynamic conditions for achieving higher first round hit probability. In addition to DVO and Thermal Imager, it also houses the Eye safe LRF for ranging the target. AGMS has the display technology (OLED) for the Gunner to view the scene of the Thermal Imager.

AGMS has the interface with the Automatic Target Tracker (ATT) for the gunner to do the target tracking automatically. AGMS controls the Inbuilt Muzzle Reference System (IMRS) for the estimation and correction of barrel bend of the gun thus providing an accurate firing.      AGMS has the interface with other systems like Indigenous Commander’s Panoramic Sight (ICPS), Fire Control Computer (FCC), Automatic Target Tracker (ATT) and Gimbal Laser Target Designator (GLTD). AGMS has the interface with the Gun Control Systems for controlling the gun based on the defined modes of operation.

The AGMS comprises of the following major sub-systems

Sight Head Assembly (SHA): SHA consisting of stabilized mirror with servo sensors. Sight Head Assembly (SHA) includes the following,

  • Direct Viewing Optics (DVO)
  • Thermal Imager (TI)
  • Eye Safe Laser Range Finder (ELRF)
  • Inbuilt Muzzle Reference System (IMRS)

Advanced Gunner’s Main Sight Electronics Unit (AGMSEU): AGMSEU is responsible for implementation of control laws and interfacing with other systems. It performs operations such as stabilization of Line Of Sight, aiming of Line Of Sight by Gunner, storage of calibration parameters of the inertial sensors of the SHA.

Advanced System Interconnection Box (ASIB): ASIB is responsible for interfacing with Gun Encoder, Commander’s Panoramic Sight, Gun Control system, e-TLB, LWCS and RCWS. It generates Reference Carrier signals for GCS & CPS.

Gunner’s Control and Display Unit (GCDU): The Gunner’s Control and Display Unit (GCDU) unit is built around two optical channels for the gunner to view in either day or night. The Day Sight Optics in the centre of the panel is directly connected by an Optical Arm through to the AGMS, placed at the front of the turret and next to the gun. The Gunner monitors thermal images and textual status information through micro monitor display (OLED).

Commander’s Control and Display Unit (CCDU): The Commanders Control & Display Unit (CCDU) for AGMS Sighting System is a visual display system for the commander in the MBT ARJUN Tank. The video generated by the Sighting System is displayed on the LCD display.

Gun Encoder (GER): A 19 Bits Gun Encoder will be used for reading the Gun Position in elevation.

Automatic Target Tracker (ATT): ATT is used to automatically track the selected target. The tracker displays the tracking window at the bore sight. The gunner steers the line of sight (LOS) to get the target of interest within the tracking window and initiates the auto track.

Power Conditioner Module 1 (PCM1): This unit will provide regulated 24 V power to all units. This will draw power from tank battery and battery backup unit.
