• Two Manufacturing Today Awards (2017): Mr Manoj Kumar, General Manager of BEL’s Kotdwara Unit, received runner up award in ‘Plant Head of the Year for 2017’ category; BEL’s Chennai Unit won runner-up award in ‘Excellence in Engineering Design 2017’ (Large) category

• Four PSE Excellence Awards 2016 instituted by the Indian Chamber of Commerce: first prize in Maharatna & Navaratna category for Operational Performance Excellence and second prizes in Maharatna & Navaratna category for R&D, Technology Development and Innovation; Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability; and Corporate Governance

• Dun and Bradstreet India’s Top PSU Award 2017 in the Manufacturing: Medium and Light Engineering Sector category

• Six Raksha Mantri’s Awards for Excellence for the years 2014-15 and 2015-16: 2 awards for Indigenisation; 2 awards for Design Effort; Best Performance in Export; Best Performing Division

• Jamnalal Bajaj Award for Fair Business Practices, instituted by the Council for Fair Business Practices, in the Manufacturing Enterprises – Large category.

• Communicator of the Year Award from Media Federation of India for Mr Krishnappa T R, Sr DGM (CC).
