CSR: BEL establishes Smart Classrooms in Sainik School, Bhubaneswar
Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has established 28 Smart Classrooms at Sainik School, Bhubaneswar, at a cost of Rs. 65 Lakh. Shri. Vikraman N, Director (HR), BEL, handed over the 28 Smart Classrooms to Col Balu Bharath, Principal, Sainik School, Bhubaneswar, in the presence of Shri. Jitender Singh, General Manager (BEL- MC Unit), Sr. Officers of BEL, Teachers & Student Cadets of the Sainik School on December 1, 2023.
BEL has installed 75″ Touchscreen Smart Panels to convert conventional classrooms to Smart Classrooms. The Smart Panels are pre-loaded with digital educational content as per CBSE Syllabus & cover all subjects.
The Smart Panels modernise the method of rendering education through intergrated learning technologies, illustrative content & visual demonstrations to explain concepts, thus ensuring active participation of students, encouraging their curiousity & creativity within the everyday learning environment and making learning fun & interactive.
The Principal of Sainik School expressed his gratitude to BEL for upgrading the training facilities and improving the teaching-learning facilities in the Institution.
BEL, a Navratna Defence PSU, has been a forerunner in promoting societal development. As a corporate entity, BEL actively participates in the social and economic development of communities in which it operates through CSR. BEL’s CSR activities are aimed at inclusive growth, holistic community development and empowerment of marginalised and underprivileged sections.

As part of Swachhta Pakhwada celebrations, employees and other staff of BEL Corporate Office undertook a cleanliness drive in public places and adjoining roads of Corporate Office today. Swachhta Pakhwada is being celebrated across BEL this year from Dec 1st-15th.

Swachhta Pakhwada at BEL Corporate Office got off to a start today with Mr Damodar Bhattad, Director (Finance), Mr KV Suresh Kumar, Director (Marketing), Mr Shrikant Walgad, IAS, CVO, senior officers and staff taking the Swachhta Pledge, followed by a March-Past.

Mr Shrikant Walgad, an IAS officer of the Haryana Cadre, took charge as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), on April 8, 2019.

Mr Shrikant Walgad completed his BE in Electronics & Communications from the Karnataka Regional Engineering College (now NITK Surathkal), Mangalore University, in 1986. He also holds a Post Graduate Degree in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM) from IIM-Bangalore.

On completion of his IAS training (1991 batch), Mr Shrikant Walgad was posted as Sub Divisional Magistrate of Ellenabad/Bhiwani, Haryana. He subsequently worked in various capacities, acquiring rich experience in district administration, law and order, rural and urban development and land revenue management while serving as Additional District Collector of Sirsa/Sonepat and Jhajjar, Haryana; and District Collector of Jhajjar and Bhiwani, Haryana, and Kodagu, Karnataka. As Registrar Magistrate of Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana, he gained first-hand experience in the areas of higher education and human resource development. During his tenure as Joint Secretary, Haryana Sector, he handled general administration and personal management.

Mr Shrikant Walgad also served in different areas of Haryana Urban Development administration, like Urban Development, Rural Development, Election management, Housing and Environment
