- SIB is front-end weapon management computer based on open architecture concept, to function in Safety Critical Environment with high degree of reliability.
- It is part of weapon control system of the LCA and controls Pylon Interface Boxes (PIBs). It directly manages the Gun and Chaff & Flare systems of the LCA.

- It receives high level commands from Open Architecture Computer (OAC) on the avionics bus and controls the safe release of stores.
