BEL Transducer Production Facility, Oxygen Concentrator

Bengaluru, August 13, 2021: The Hon’ble Raksha Mantri, Shri Rajnath Singh, on Friday inaugurated (through Videoconference) the Transducer Production Facility established at Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronic Limited (BEL)’s Bangalore Complex, and Oxygen Concentrators manufactured by BEL under the PM Cares initiative, at a ceremony organised as part of the 75 th Independence Day celebrations (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) of India.

Transducer Production facility: Set up at a cost of Rs.30 Crores, this is a very large in-house facility catering to the production and testing of a wide range of Transducers and underwater equipment. The Transducer Test facilities include Pressure Test Facility, Acoustic Test Facility and Load Test Facility. It is well equipped with precision equipment to control quality and technical specifications at various stages, like precision jigs and fixtures for stacking of Piezo-ceramics, measuring and tuning of the transducer element / hydrophones, Post Vulcanisation Bonding machines, etc.

The facility is expected to generate an annual turnover of Rs.75-80 Crores in the initial years and up to the tune of Rs.200 Crores by 2026. The Transducer is a part of the Naval equipment, which BEL has been manufacturing and supplying since four decades with technology from NPOL (DRDO).

BEL Oxygen Concentrators: BEL is manufacturing 30,000 numbers of 5LPM and 10LPM Oxygen Concentrators for ONGC with indigenous technology from BPL Medical under the PM Cares initiative.

An oxygen concentrator works by filtering and concentrating oxygen molecules from the ambient air to provide patients with 90% to 95% pure oxygen. The BEL-made Oxygen concentrator, with dual flow output, is used for therapeutic requirements of patients with heart problems, respiratory diseases, brain fatigue, athletics fatigue or plateau hypoxia. The Oxygen Concentrator is meant to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and also to be used for Oxygen Scarcity Management and providing an industrial eco system for medical devices.

The BEL Oxygen Concentrator, which will be delivered in 4-5 months’ time, is expected to generate a turnover of Rs. 184 Crores for BEL in 2021-22.

BEL wins 3 Governance Now Awards, Director-HR wins HR Leadership Award

Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) received three Governance Now Awards: for Nation Building, HR Excellence and Digital Security; and Mr K M Shivakumaran, Director (HR), BEL received the HR Leadership Award. The awards were presented by Dr Kiran Bedi at the 8 th Governance Now PSU Awards ceremony held virtually on Thursday, July 29, 2021. All four awards were received by Mr K M Shivakumaran, Director (HR), BEL. The Governance Now Awards recognise the efforts of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) that have been key to the country’s growth.

Mr K M Shivakumaran, Director (HR), BEL, received the HR Leadership Award for being a dynamic and visionary HR leader. His rich and varied experience as a HR professional has helped in transforming the HR function to be an enabler in business. He has been instrumental in adopting and implementing new HR policies. He takes keen interest in the well-being of employees and their families.

BEL received the Award for Nation Building for supporting the Government’s fight against Covid 19 by manufacturing and supplying 30,000 indigenous ICU ventilators in record time. BEL is proud to have created a capable ecosystem for manufacturing medical grade equipment indigenously and addressing the healthcare needs of our nation in a timely manner. This a true example of Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Indian Navy, BEL sign MoU for Technology Incubation Forum

The Indian Navy and BEL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on June 29, 2021, at the Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy), New Delhi, for creation of a joint Technology Incubation Forum (TIF).

The Technology Incubation Forum reflects the joint vision of Indian Navy and BEL towards innovative and creative thinking and fostering development of emerging technologies. The broad charter of the TIF includes technology development in the domain of Weapons & Sensors, Information Technology and Emerging Technologies such as Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Quantum Computing, Autonomous Platforms/ Robotics, Image Processing and Cognitive Radio. The TIF will spearhead mission mode development of deployable products under the Government’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative with involvement of industry, academia and start-ups.

BEL contributes Rs. 5.45 Crores to PM CARES Fund to combat COVID-19 second wave

Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has contributed Rs. 5.45 Crores from its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Fund to the PM CARES Fund, in support of the Government’s concerted efforts in dealing with the challenges arising out of the raging second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

BEL is also utilising Rs. 4 Crores of its CSR Fund to set up Medical Oxygen Generation Plants in 12 Government hospitals in six states to ramp up their oxygen requirement and help ease current crisis across the country.

BEL is putting in all efforts to support the country’s war against COVID-19. Last year, the Company had released Rs. 10 Crores from its CSR Fund towards the PM CARES Fund, to combat and contain the pandemic in India and also for relief efforts.

BEL receives 12 Green Channel Certificates for 41 products

Bengaluru, April 5, 2021: It was a moment of pride for Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) when a year  back it received the Directorate General Quality Assurance (DGQA)’s Green Channel Status certificate for  supply of Spares for Flycatcher Radar, manufactured at its Military Radar Strategic Business Unit (SBU) in  Bangalore. It was the first time any organisation in India was issued this coveted certificate, ever since the  Green Channel Policy was formulated.

Today, the Navratna Defence PSU has received 12 Green Channel Certificates for a total of 41 products  manufactured at 10 SBUs/Units: Ghaziabad Unit and Military Radar SBU for Radars, Naval Systems I and  Naval Systems II SBUs for Naval products, Military Communications SBU and Panchkula Unit for  Communication equipment, Machilipatnam Unit for Opto Electronic products, Navi Mumbai Unit for spares  for Mast, Pune Unit for batteries for communication equipment, and Chennai Unit for gun upgrade.

The Ministry of Defence promulgated the Green Channel Policy for promoting ease of doing business as  part of its ‘Make in India’ initiatives. A mechanism has been set up to award Green Channel Status to firms  with pre-defined financial and quality credentials for broad categories of items having continuous  requirement in the Defence Forces. Responsibility of inspection of goods is given to the firms, after their  credentials are verified by the Green Channel Committee (GCC), comprising of various stakeholders from  DGQA and the procurement ecosystem.

Green Channel Status is the authority given by the Purchaser to the Manufacturer to formally certify its  products or stores on behalf of the purchaser or any other authority designated by him, after having  verified the Firm’s infrastructure, quality policies and practices to produce and supply goods of specified  quality. The Purchaser’s confidence in the Firm’s Quality Assurance is the central tenet in awarding of  Green Channel Status.

BEL achieves record turnover of Rs.13500 Crores

Bengaluru, April 1, 2021:

Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has achieved a turnover of about Rs.13500 Crores (Provisional & Unaudited) during Financial Year 2020-21, against previous year’s turnover of Rs.12608 Crores in spite of the challenges posed by COVID19 Pandemic & intense competition in business.

BEL’s Order Book as on 1.4.2021 is around Rs.53000 Crs. In the year 2020-21, BEL secured significant orders worth Rs.15000 Crs. Some of the major orders acquired during the year are ICU Ventilators, Software Defined Radios & Communication equipment, Various types of Radars, Sonars, Torpedo Decoy Systems, Electronic Warfare Systems, Networking & Encryption products, and smart cities etc.

Some of the flagship projects executed during FY 2020-21 are ICU Ventilators, Missile Systems (Akash & LRSAM), Gun Upgrades, Various Radars, Various Sonars, Command & Control Systems, Electro-optic systems, Communication & Encryption products, EW Systems, Coastal Surveillance System, Electronic Fuzes, Home Land Security & Smart City Projects, KFON, Avionics Package for LCA etc.

BEL achieved Export sales of around US$ 50 Million during FY 2020-21. Major products exported include Coastal Surveillance System, Trans-Receive (TR) Modules, Bharati Radio, Identification of Friend or Foe–Interrogator (IFFI), Electro-Optic System Compact Multi-Purpose Advanced Stabilization System (EOS CoMPASS), Electro-Mechanical parts, Radar Finger Printing System (RFPS), Low Band Receivers (LBREC), Spares for Radars etc.

BEL’s Chairman & Managing Director M V Gowtama said, “BEL will continue its efforts in becoming Self-Reliant through enhanced focus on indigenization, Outsourcing to Domestic industry with more thrust on MSME & GeM procurement and thus minimizing import dependency. BEL pays Rs. 174 Crore Second Interim Dividend to Govt of India

Bengaluru, March 30, 2021: Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), a Navratna  Defence PSU, has paid second interim dividend of 140% on its paid-up capital  to the Government of India for financial year 2020 – 21.

Mr M V Gowtama, Chairman & Managing Director, BEL, presented the second interim dividend cheque of Rs. 174,43,63,569.20/- (Rupees One Hundred Seventy-four Crores Forty-Three Lacs Sixty-three Thousand Five Hundred Sixty-nine and Twenty Paise only), payable on the shares held by the President of India, to the honorable Defence Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh, at New Delhi on March 30, 2021. BEL has declared 140% percent as second interim dividend (Rs. 1.40/- per share) to its shareholders for the financial year 2020 – 21.

This is the 18th consecutive year that BEL is paying Interim Dividend. BEL has  paid a total dividend of 280% on its paid up capital for the financial year 2019 –  20.

BEL signs MoU with L&T

Bengaluru, February 4, 2021: At Aero India 2021 today, Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) announced an MoU to continue to cooperate in addressing the needs of the evolving domestic and export markets for Defence products and systems. The MoU seeks to leverage capabilities of both the firms through strategic alignment, enhancing indigenisation content and collaboration using high-end and advanced technologies to meet domestic needs and enhance export prospects.

BEL signs MoU with Beretta Italy

Bengaluru, February 3, 2021: In line with the Government of India’s vision for an ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and Italian firearms manufacturing major Beretta Italy have at Aero India 2021 announced an MoU for indigenous manufacture of Close Quarter Carbine Weapons (CQB Carbines) and other Small Arms, required by Defence and other Non-Defence customers.
