Q1: BEL registers growth of 46% in PAT (YoY)

Bengaluru, July 29, 2024: Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has achieved a turnover of Rs.4,105.14 Cr, registering a growth of 19.10% during the 1st Quarter of FY 2024-25, as against the turnover of Rs. 3,446.69 Cr recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Profit Before Tax (PBT) during Q1 of FY 2024-25 stood at Rs. 1,037.34 Cr, with a growth of 47.40% over the PBT of Rs.703.75 Cr recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Profit After Tax (PAT) during Q1 of FY 2024-25 stood at Rs. 776.14 Cr, with a growth of 46.21% over the PAT of Rs.530.84 Cr recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The order book position of the company as on 1st July, 2024, stood at Rs. 76,705 Cr.

RRM visits BEL, lauds commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat

Bengaluru, July 16, 2024: The Hon’ble Minister of State for Defence (Raksha Rajya Mantri – RRM), Shri Sanjay Seth visited Bengaluru Complex of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna defence PSU. He was received by Shri Manoj Jain, CMD, Shri Bhanu Prakash Srivastava, Director (Other Units), Shri Damodar Bhattad, Director (Finance), Shri K V Suresh Kumar, Director (Marketing), and other senior officers.

RRM visited the Precision Manufacturing Facility at Advanced Defence Systems Navy (ADSN) Strategic Business Unit (SBU), Military Radars SBU and the state-of-the-art EMI / EMC Lab. The Minister was given a demo of the Coastal Surveillance System and the Perimeter Security System. He also visited the Smart City Experience Centre.

RRM visited the Product Development and Innovation Centre (PDIC), which fosters innovation, research and development of cutting-edge defence and security solutions. He interacted with engineers, scientists and researchers working on next generation projects.

The Minister also planted a sapling at PDIC to commemorate his maiden visit to BEL.

RRM said, “I am impressed with the state-of-the-art facility at BEL and applaud the contributions being made by BEL towards Nation’s Defence. I offer my best wishes for your continued success and achievement.”

BEL celebrates International Day of Yoga

Bengaluru, June 21, 2024: The 10th International day of Yoga was celebrated with fervour across the Units and offices of Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) today.

A sea of humanity converged at the crack of dawn at BEL’s Bangalore Complex in Jalahalli as more than 500 employees participated in the early morning Yoga session conducted by Yoga experts. Yoga Pledge was administered in local languages, Hindi and English at all the Units spread across the country.

Various competitions were held as part of the Yoga Day celebrations and the winners were awarded prizes. A symposium on “Yoga and Wellbeing” was organised at Nalanda, the BEL Academy for Excellence in Bangalore, in collaboration with NIMHANS in which more than 300 women employees participated.

Mr Manoj Jain assumes charge as BEL CMD

Bengaluru, June 20, 2024: Mr Manoj Jain took charge as the Chairman & Managing Director of Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) today.  He was Director (R&D) and Director (Bangalore Complex), Additional Charge, prior to his elevation as CMD.

Mr Manoj Jain joined BEL in August 1991 as Probationary Engineer after completing his BE (Electronics) from REC Jaipur (MNIT) with Gold medal. In an illustrious career spanning over three decades, he has made significant contributions to the field of Research & Development.

During his initial years in D&E at BEL’s Kotdwara Unit, Mr Manoj Jain played a pivotal role in the development of Digital Multiplexers, Cross Connects, CDOT Exchanges and Military Switches. In 1999, he moved to BEL’s Central Research Laboratory in Bangalore and was engaged in the development of technologies for Defence Networks and Network & Bulk Security Solutions. In the area of Radar, one of BEL’s core businesses, he was involved in the development of VeXT, Scan Converter and Display using FPGA.

Mr Manoj Jain served as Chief Scientist of CRL-Bangalore from December 2017 to May 2019, overseeing technological developments in all technical areas. He took over as General Manager of BEL’s Product Development & Innovation Centre (PD&IC) in June 2019. During his two-year stint here, PD&IC developed many new products/sub-systems required for BEL, thus ensuring innovation and value addition, leading to self-reliance.

Mr Manoj Jain took over as the General Manager and Head of the Electronic Warfare & Avionics SBU at BEL-Bangalore in June 2021. Apart from overseeing all the business operations of the SBU, he provided the much-needed vision for this business vertical.

Mr Manoj Jain took charge as Director (R&D) of BEL on September 26, 2022. He was also assigned additional charge of Director (HR) from November 1, 2022 to May 31, 2023.

Mr Manoj Jain has received various R&D awards, Key Contributor Awards, Raksha Mantri’s Award and SODET Awards. He has published many technical papers, applied for several patents and delivered talks to Defence users and DRDOs.

BEL registers a growth of 34% in PAT during FY 2023-24

Bengaluru, May 20, 2024: Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has achieved a Turnover of Rs.19819.93 Crore, registering a growth of 14.35% during FY 2023-24 over the Turnover of Rs.17333.37 Crore recorded during the previous year.

During the 4th Quarter of FY 2023-24, BEL achieved a Turnover of Rs.8335.01 Crore as against Rs.6327.48 Crore recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Profit Before Tax (PBT) during FY 2023-24 stood at Rs.5334.56 Crore, with a growth of 33.87% over the Profit Before Tax (PBT) of Rs.3984.88 Crore recorded during the previous year.

During the 4th Quarter of FY 2023-24, Profit Before Tax (PBT) has increased to Rs.2385.61 Crore from Rs.1781.49 Crore recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Profit After Tax (PAT) during FY 2023-24 stood at Rs.4020.00 Crore, with a growth of 33.70% over the Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs.3006.67 Crore recorded during the previous year.

During the 4th Quarter of FY 2023-24, Profit After Tax (PAT) has increased to Rs.1783.52 Crore from Rs.1365.36 Crore recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The order book position of the company as on 1st April, 2024 stood at Rs.75934 Crore.

The Board of Directors at its meeting held today recommended a Final Dividend of Rs.0.80 per Equity share (having a face value of Rs.1/- each) and the same is subject to the approval by the Shareholders in the ensuing Annual General Meeting of the Company.

Bengaluru, May 22, 2024: Navaratna DPSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has received orders worth Rs. 1,150 Crores till date during the financial year 2024-25. The major orders include AMC of Akash Missile System, Combat Management System for ships, Missile Fire Control System for ships, Laser Range Finders, Communication Network Centre, etc.

BEL achieves record turnover of Rs. 19,700 Crores

Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has achieved a turnover of around Rs. 19700 Cr (Provisional & Unaudited), during the Financial Year 2023-24, against the previous year’s turnover of Rs. 17,333 Cr registering a growth of 13.65%.

In the fiscal year 2023-24, BEL successfully secured orders worth around Rs. 35000 Cr. Among the notable defence orders obtained during the year were Electronic Fuzes, EW Systems, Communication Systems for naval warships, Fire Control Systems, Akash Prime Weapon System, Radars, Sonars, Software Defined Radios, Night Vision Devices, Tactical Communication Systems and other projects in Non-defence sector.

With this, the total order book of BEL as on April 1st, 2024, stands at around Rs. 76000 Cr.

BEL also achieved Export sales of around US$ 92.98 Million during FY 2023-24, as against the previous year’s export turnover of US$ 48.33 Million, registering a growth of 92%. Major products exported include Transmit & Receive (TR) Modules, Compact Multi-Purpose Advanced Stabilisation System (CoMPASS), Radar & Electronic Warfare Systems, Medical Electronics, Communication equipment, etc.

As on April 1st, 2024, BEL’s export order book stands at USD 407 million, with export orders acquired during the fiscal year amounting to USD 211 million.

Shri Bhanu Prakash Srivastava, Chairman & Managing Director, BEL, said: “BEL has yet again proven its manufacturing prowess with its turnover hitting a new high, courtesy sale of a gamut of products across Defence and non-Defence segments. Exports have also grown significantly as compared to the previous year, a testimony to the all-out efforts made by the company to expand its global footprints and contribute to the MoD’s vision of maximising Defence exports. Research & Development continues to be a major thrust area as we focus on in-house R&D efforts and collaborations with DRDO, academia and industry partners. We are in sync with the Government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative as indigenisation, procurement from MSMEs and GeM continue to top our priority list. BEL will continue to explore new growth opportunities through export initiatives, diversification, capability enhancement, competitiveness and modernisation.”

BEL receives orders worth Rs.1,940.35 Cr

Navaratna DPSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) today entered into a contract valued at Rs.847.70 Cr plus taxes with Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) for the supply of 14 cutting-edge Communication and Electronic Warfare (EW) sensors and systems. These state-of-the-art systems, manufactured domestically by BEL, will be installed on three Cadet Training Ships for the Indian Navy.

This collaboration between BEL and L&T exemplifies the strong partnership between the two companies and underscores the broader co-operation within the Indian Industry. The successful execution of this contract will involve the participation of numerous Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and represents a significant stride towards achieving the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Additionally, BEL has secured other orders valued at Rs.1,092.65 Cr following the last disclosure on February 13, 2024. These orders encompass the supply of LRUs for T-70 & T-90 Tanks, Communication Systems for the Indian Navy, as well as other Spares and Services. With these recent developments, BEL has now accumulated orders totalling Rs.32,716.33 Cr in the current financial year, highlighting the company’s continued growth and success in the Defence sector.

WIPS conclave envisions women as Indispensable Catalysts for progress

The 34 th annual conclave of the Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS) turned the spotlight on the need to recognise women as indispensible catalysts for progress.

The theme for this year’s WIPS conclave, held in Bengaluru from February 12-13, 2024, was ‘Women – The Future of Sustainable Growth’.

Her Highness, the Maharani of Mysore, Smt Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, inaugurated the conclave and spoke at length on how the role of women in Public Sector Enterprises had evolved over the years with a positive shift towards inclusivity and gender equality. She expressed her pride in her family’s legacy of granting women voting rights and property rights.

Mr Atul Sobti, Director General of SCOPE, was the Guest of Honour. Addressing the gathering which represented the 75,000-odd women workforce spread across diverse sectors, he lauded women for their significant contributions to India’s GDP and socio- economic development. He added that Indian women today enjoy global acclaim and that the country’s leaders had taken the lead in harnessing women power.

Mrs Varsha S Raut, President, WIPS (APEX), said: “Women bring a fresh approach to problem-solving and decision-making, often prioritising collaboration, empathy and long- term thinking.”

The national event was a big draw with around 700 participants from PSEs across the country. It focussed on the pivotal role played by women in driving sustainable growth. Recognising women as indispensable catalysts for progress, the discussions delved into their multifaceted contributions across various sectors. The two-day conclave featured eminent speakers from a gamut of fields.

BEL receives orders worth Rs.2,282.06 Crs

Navaratna DPSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) today signed a contract for a value of Rs.2,167.47 Crs plus taxes with the Indian Navy for supply of state-of-the-art, indigenously designed and developed EW suite for use onboard warship. This EW suite is a big leap for BEL’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

The company has also received additional orders worth Rs.114.59 Crs since the last disclosure on 30 th January 2024 and these orders pertain to the supply of SDRs, HD VLF receivers, EVMs, etc.

With the above, BEL has received cumulative orders of Rs.30,776.06 Crs in the current financial year.
