BEL achieves record turnover of Rs. 19,700 Crores

Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has achieved a turnover of around Rs. 19700 Cr (Provisional & Unaudited), during the Financial Year 2023-24, against the previous year’s turnover of Rs. 17,333 Cr registering a growth of 13.65%.

In the fiscal year 2023-24, BEL successfully secured orders worth around Rs. 35000 Cr. Among the notable defence orders obtained during the year were Electronic Fuzes, EW Systems, Communication Systems for naval warships, Fire Control Systems, Akash Prime Weapon System, Radars, Sonars, Software Defined Radios, Night Vision Devices, Tactical Communication Systems and other projects in Non-defence sector.

With this, the total order book of BEL as on April 1st, 2024, stands at around Rs. 76000 Cr.

BEL also achieved Export sales of around US$ 92.98 Million during FY 2023-24, as against the previous year’s export turnover of US$ 48.33 Million, registering a growth of 92%. Major products exported include Transmit & Receive (TR) Modules, Compact Multi-Purpose Advanced Stabilisation System (CoMPASS), Radar & Electronic Warfare Systems, Medical Electronics, Communication equipment, etc.

As on April 1st, 2024, BEL’s export order book stands at USD 407 million, with export orders acquired during the fiscal year amounting to USD 211 million.

Exports have also grown significantly as compared to the previous year, a testimony to the all-out efforts made by the company to expand its global footprints and contribute to the MoD’s vision of maximising Defence exports. Research & Development continues to be a major thrust area as we focus on in-house R&D efforts and collaborations with DRDO, academia and industry partners. We are in sync with the Government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative as indigenisation, procurement from MSMEs and GeM continue to top our priority list. BEL will continue to explore new growth opportunities through export initiatives, diversification, capability enhancement, competitiveness and modernisation.”

BEL receives orders worth Rs.1,940.35 Cr

Navaratna DPSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) today entered into a contract valued at Rs.847.70 Cr plus taxes with Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) for the supply of 14 cutting-edge Communication and Electronic Warfare (EW) sensors and systems. These state-of-the-art systems, manufactured domestically by BEL, will be installed on three Cadet Training Ships for the Indian Navy.

This collaboration between BEL and L&T exemplifies the strong partnership between the two companies and underscores the broader co-operation within the Indian Industry. The successful execution of this contract will involve the participation of numerous Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and represents a significant stride towards achieving the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Additionally, BEL has secured other orders valued at Rs.1,092.65 Cr following the last disclosure on February 13, 2024. These orders encompass the supply of LRUs for T-70 & T-90 Tanks, Communication Systems for the Indian Navy, as well as other Spares and Services. With these recent developments, BEL has now accumulated orders totalling Rs.32,716.33 Cr in the current financial year, highlighting the company’s continued growth and success in the Defence sector.

WIPS conclave envisions women as Indispensable Catalysts for progress

The 34 th annual conclave of the Forum of Women in Public Sector (WIPS) turned the spotlight on the need to recognise women as indispensible catalysts for progress.

The theme for this year’s WIPS conclave, held in Bengaluru from February 12-13, 2024, was ‘Women – The Future of Sustainable Growth’.

Her Highness, the Maharani of Mysore, Smt Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, inaugurated the conclave and spoke at length on how the role of women in Public Sector Enterprises had evolved over the years with a positive shift towards inclusivity and gender equality. She expressed her pride in her family’s legacy of granting women voting rights and property rights.

Mr Atul Sobti, Director General of SCOPE, was the Guest of Honour. Addressing the gathering which represented the 75,000-odd women workforce spread across diverse sectors, he lauded women for their significant contributions to India’s GDP and socio- economic development. He added that Indian women today enjoy global acclaim and that the country’s leaders had taken the lead in harnessing women power.

Mrs Varsha S Raut, President, WIPS (APEX), said: “Women bring a fresh approach to problem-solving and decision-making, often prioritising collaboration, empathy and long- term thinking.”

The national event was a big draw with around 700 participants from PSEs across the country. It focussed on the pivotal role played by women in driving sustainable growth. Recognising women as indispensable catalysts for progress, the discussions delved into their multifaceted contributions across various sectors. The two-day conclave featured eminent speakers from a gamut of fields.

BEL receives orders worth Rs.2,282.06 Crs

Navaratna DPSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) today signed a contract for a value of Rs.2,167.47 Crs plus taxes with the Indian Navy for supply of state-of-the-art, indigenously designed and developed EW suite for use onboard warship. This EW suite is a big leap for BEL’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

The company has also received additional orders worth Rs.114.59 Crs since the last disclosure on 30 th January 2024 and these orders pertain to the supply of SDRs, HD VLF receivers, EVMs, etc.

With the above, BEL has received cumulative orders of Rs.30,776.06 Crs in the current financial year.

BEL WINS ORDERS WORTH RS 847 CR

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has signed Contract with Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Ministry of Finance, Govt of India on 30 th January 2024 for implementation & management of IT infrastructure. The value of the contract, won through open bidding, is Rs. 665.84 crores plus taxes. The scope of the project is to supply, install and maintain IT & networking infra, field IT support and centralised management and monitoring. Maintenance support will be provided for 5 years inclusive of implementation period. This is one of the biggest Civilian Projects acquired on competitive basis by BEL during the current financial year.

BEL has also received additional orders worth Rs. 182 Cr towards miscellaneous spares & services since last disclosure on 17 th Jan 24.

With the above BEL has received cumulative orders of Rs. 28494 Cr in the current financial year.

BEL registers a growth of 49% in PAT during 3 rd Quarter of FY 2023-24

Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has achieved a Turnover of Rs. 4120.10 Cr, registering a growth of 1.83% during 3 rd Quarter of FY 2023-24 over the Turnover of Rs. 4046.11 Cr recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Profit Before Tax (PBT) during 3 rd Quarter of FY 2023-24 stood at Rs. 1172.26 Cr, with a growth of 46.45% over the Profit Before Tax (PBT) of Rs. 800.43 Cr recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Profit After Tax (PAT) during 3 rd Quarter of FY 2023-24 stood at Rs. 893.30 Cr, with a growth of 49.19% over the Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs. 598.77 Cr recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Up to 3 rd Quarter of FY 2023-24, BEL achieved a Turnover of Rs. 11484.92 Cr as against Rs. 11005.89 Cr recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Profit Before Tax (PBT) has increased to Rs. 2948.95 Cr from Rs. 2203.39 Cr recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year. The Profit After Tax (PAT) has increased to Rs. 2236.48 Cr from Rs. 1641.31 Cr recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.

The Board of Directors in their meeting held on 29 th January 2024 declared Interim Dividend of Rs. 0.70 paise per equity share (on face value of Rs 1/- each). The said dividend will be payable to the eligible shareholders holding shares as on the record date, i.e. 10 th February 2024.

The order book position of the company as on 1 st January, 2024, stood at Rs. 76217 Cr.

BEL receives orders worth Rs.1034.31 Crore

Navratna DPSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has received an order from Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd for a value of Rs.695 Crore for supply of spares related to missile systems.

The company has also received additional orders worth Rs.339.31 Crore since the last disclosure on 26 th Dec 2023 and these orders pertain to Combat Management System, Composite Communication System, Transmit / Receive Modules, Mobile Autonomous Stabilization System and other spares / services.

With the above, BEL has received cumulative orders of Rs.27,647.31 Crore in the current financial year.

BEL, IIT Delhi ink MoU to transform breakthroughs in Deep Tech research into products for Indian Navy

Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has joined hands with the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at IIT Delhi to translate breakthroughs in Naval Deep Tech research being carried out at CARE – IIT Delhi, into products for Indian Navy. BEL and IIT Delhi today signed an MoU for R&D collaborations in various emerging technologies, as envisaged by the Indian Navy’s office of Naval Projects at IIT Delhi, to facilitate conversion of inventions in ongoing Deep Tech research into Naval products. The MoU was signed by Mr Manoj Jain, Director (R&D), BEL, and Prof Preeti Ranjan Panda, MD, FITT, in the presence of dignitaries from the Indian Navy and IIT Delhi.

The Naval research being carried out at CARE – IIT Delhi required some handholding from the industry, as industry partners need to be part of the research and product development from the initial stages itself to ensure smooth transition during prototype trials and production.

The entry of BEL marks the beginning of a new chapter of synergy between the industry and user-academia alliance at IIT Delhi, giving a boost to the GoI’s Atmanirbhar Bharat drive. BEL and IIT Delhi will now jointly work on core technology development with use cases in areas of interest pertinent to the Indian Navy.

BEL has expressed interest to participate in collaborations in the field of Naval Electronic Systems, including RF, Sonar systems, IMARS, Communication Systems, etc.

Defence Secretary inaugurates BELs Abhigyaan

The Defence Secretary, Mr Giridhar Aramane, IAS, inaugurated Abhigyaan, the state-of-the-art auditorium at the Central Research Laboratory (CRL) of Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) at Ghaziabad, today. Other dignitaries at the inaugural included Mr Bhanu Prakash Srivastava, CMD, BEL, Mr Manoj Jain, Director (R&D), BEL, Mr Sankarasubramanian R, Executive Director, Ghaziabad Unit of BEL, and Mr Anoop Kumar Rai, Chief Scientist, BEL CRL-Ghaziabad.

Abhigyaan will be used for product demos, symposiums, hackathons, tech talks and lectures. It can seat 250 people.

The auditorium boasts excellent acoustics, smart interfaces, a large interactive data wall (6 metre by 3.3 metre) and 3 PTZ cameras for live feed. There are also 2 high resolution displays for simultaneous presentation and demonstration. Abhigyaan will be an asset to the scientific community.

BEL receives orders worth Rs.678 Cr, including for NextGen Dial 112 project for UP Govt

Bengaluru, December 27, 2023: Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has signed a contract for a value of Rs.445 Crore with the Uttar Pradesh Government on December 23, 2023, for next generation UP Dial 112 project. BEL will be providing comprehensive and state-of-the-art hardware, AI based software tools and Cyber Security solutions for the Dial 112 project, which is spread across the entire state of Uttar Pradesh. BEL is happy to be associated with the UP Government for this project, which is one of Asia’s biggest emergency response systems. BEL will be utilizing the ecosystem of domestic suppliers, including MSMEs for execution of this project.

The company has also received other orders worth Rs.233 Crore and these pertain to Communication Display Units, Thermal Imaging cameras and other miscellaneous spares and services.

With this, BEL has cumulatively received orders worth Rs.26,613 Crore in the current financial year, 2023-24.

About NexGen Dial 112 Project: NexGen UP Dial 112 is one of the pioneering Emergency Response Systems in India, among the largest such systems in Asia. The vision of NexGen UP Dial 112 is “to provide prompt integrated emergency response for public safety and security to all persons, anytime, anywhere in Uttar Pradesh”. The programme will serve a population base of more than 25 crores.

BEL will provide technology upgradation with 5 years’ support for NexGen UP Dial 112, which will be able to handle calls landing through multiple channels like PSTN, mobile, SMS, emails, social media channels, web portal and mobile app. It will provide better services using updated solutions and technologies. The upgraded system can receive approximately 1,50,000 calls per day.

As part of this project, BEL will provide AI based and cloud-ready software applications for the Contact Center, Multimedia Services, Computer Aided Dispatch, Map Services, location-based tracking, Business Intelligence, etc. BEL will also provide IT, Networking and Cyber Security Hardware and solutions.
